La Calabria non è un giardino fiorito. Nonostante la bellezze naturali e la storia millenaria, pochi hanno trovato l’eden sul finire dello stivale. In molti al contrario hanno dovuto negli anni abbandonarla nella speranza di trovare altrove opportunità di vita precluse ai calabresi. Un processo, quello dell’emigrazione di massa, divenuto consistente negli anni del boom industriale, quando in tanti partivano per il nord ovest d’Italia armati solo di una valigia carica di speranza, mai per davvero arrestatosi dei tutto. Colpa di un’atavica incapacità della nostra terra di affrancarsi una volta e per sempre da logiche tribali e antiquate che impediscono l’attecchirsi duraturo di un sistema economico limpido e basato sulle regole della sana concorrenza. Colpa della malapolitica, incapace, a prescindere dal colore politico, di esprimere classi dirigenti in grado di offrire una prospettiva strategica ad un territorio che si trascina stancamente da anni di emergenza in emergenza. E colpa infine della “mala pianta”, di quella gramigna cioè, difficile da estirpare, che avvelena ogni angolo della vita pubblica e privata della nostra povera regione. La ‘ndrangheta prospera dove imperano i bisogni della gente. E quando la politica si riduce ad amministrazione dell’esistente nell’interesse esclusivo delle lobby che la esercitano e la condizionano, la ‘ndrangheta tende a colmare colpevoli e drammatici vuoti. Consola tuttavia constatare l’emergere di una nuova consapevolezza circa l’indispensabilità di fare rete per provare a creare le condizioni affinché le generazioni future possono vivere una terra finalmente bonificata. Ogni contributo in questa direzione rappresenta un passo nella direzione del cambiamento. Il mondo della cultura, nello specifico, può e deve fare molto, perché è oramai un dato pacificamente accettato quello secondo cui la lotta alle mafie non può ridursi solo su un piano strettamente militare. E’ proprio tale consapevolezza ha probabilmente indotto i promotori del progetto “Malapianta”, liberamente ispirato al volume scritto dal procuratore Nicola Gratteri e dallo scrittore Antonio Nicaso, ad impegnarsi in questa direzione. Il progetto in questione, ideato dallo studio Green A&A Associati, in collaborazione, tra gli altri, con il Museo della ‘ndrangheta e l’associazione Libera, prevede la realizzazione di un giardino selezionato per la partecipazione a Euroflora. Secondo l’ideatore del progetto, Nicola Tassone “bisogna raccontare il senso di appartenenza dei calabresi al loro territorio. Attaccamento sporcato e rubato dalla ‘ndrangheta, silenziosamente impadronitasi delle libertà della gente”. Il giardino intende inoltre rappresentare, non soltanto simbolicamente, un momento di unità di tutte le associazioni antimafia operanti nella provincia di Reggio Calabria. Il giardino non esaurirà la sua funzione con l’appuntamento di Euroflora, previsto a Genova, ma diventerà un allestimento permanente presso il museo della ‘ndrangheta sotto la supervisione del magistrato Gratteri. “Sarà un giardino della memoria”, spiega il direttore del Museo Caludio La Camera, “capace di rappresentare la memoria del nostro territorio nelle sue diverse declinazioni. Memoria vissuta come un flusso continuo di immagini, dolori e sentimenti”. Forse sulla scia di questi ultimi spunterà, se ben innaffiato, il fiore del definitivo riscatto.
