Sono passati più di venti anni dalla caduta del muro di Berlino sotto le cui macerie rimangono tuttora sepolti gli ideali e i dogmi dei partiti comunisti di ispirazione marxista. Ma paradossalmente, la fine del comunismo ha nuociuto, e tanto, anche ai vincitori di quella sacrosanta battaglia che i migliori uomini dell’occidente democratico combatterono in difesa della libertà e della democrazia. “…Il comunismo, fin quando non giunge alla pienezza del suo rifabbricare che è un demolire la vita umana, e non si fa dittatura continuata e tirannia, quando, invece, con le sue censure e con le sue richieste , e altresì con le sue minacce, combatte gli egoismi degli interessi economici privati e conferisce al vantaggio comune, quando coi suoi miti, pur anima di un qualsiasi ideale politico, classi sociali estranee alla politica e le sveglia e le disciplina e ne inizia una sorta di educazione, dimostra anch’esso le sue virtù, e sarebbe stolto rigettarlo o volere che non fosse al mondo, come invece si rigetta e teoricamente si annulla il suo principio direttivo e la sua materialistica religione…”. Questo scriveva, con straordinaria lucidità e profetica lungimiranza Benedetto Croce nel suo Storia d’Europa nel secolo decimonono, edito da Laterza nel 1932. Anche sotto questa prospettiva vanno lette le deleterie accelerazioni nella direzione di un rapido cambiamento delle politiche globali che hanno imposto con sempre maggiore virulenza un’idea alienante di darwinismo applicato all’economia che ha destrutturato irrimediabilmente la vita di interi popoli e intere generazioni. La funzione “moderatrice” svolta inconsapevolmente dall’impero sovietico nei confronti della ricorrente tentazione presente in Occidente di divinizzare il concetto stesso di “mercato”, giace anch’essa sotto le macerie berlinesi. Molti uomini in carne ed ossa,invece, protagonisti diretti di una politica sconfessata dalla storia nelle sue convinzioni più profonde, con perfetta tempistica e scaltro cinismo si sono altresì assicurati una personale sopravvivenza politica sostituendo, sic et simpliciter, la fede in Mosca con quella negli eurobanchieri di Francoforte. Sbagliavano prima e sbagliano ancora adesso.
